Philip Sheffield

British Tenor Philip Sheffield is renowned internationally for his vocal versatility, acting ability and intensity. After an early career singing lyric roles all over the world he is most often found these days exploring the murkier side of life as a tenor.

In 2018 he sang The Reverend Adams in “Peter Grimes” at the Opera Monte Carlo with Jose Cura as Grimes and conducted by Jan Latham Koenig. He then played  Edward IV in “Richard III” at La Fenice in Venice. This  outstanding production by Robert Carsen of Giorgio Battisteli’s opera was picked as one of the Operas of the Year by “Operawire”.

In 2021 he sung the role of Zivny in Janacek’s opera “Osud” at the Janacek Theatre in Brno in a new production by  Robert Carsen .

In 2022 at Levoca he gave a recital of English song and gave the Slovak premiere of Ralph Vaughan Williams’s ‘On Wenlock Edge’, accompanied by the Czech Philharmonic Quartet and Jonathan Powell (piano)

In 2023 Philip was a soloist in the ward-winning film ‘Maestro’, directed by and starring Bradley Cooper.
