Jörn Hinnerk Andresen hails from Schleswig-Holstein. He studied conducting, piano and harpsichord in Dresden and Amsterdam with Hans-Christoph Rademann, Siegfried Kurz and Daniel Reuss. Following appointments in Zwickau and Koblenz as chorus director and Kapellmeister, he joined the Gärtnerplatz Theatre in Munich in 2008. From 2015 to 2019 he was chorus director at the Semperoper in Dresden. One of his great successes in Dresden was Schoenberg’s Moses und Aron, for which the Chorus was nominated for an International Opera Award in 2019.
His engagements elsewhere include appearances with the English National Opera and the Bavarian State Opera. He has conducted more than 60 operas, operettas and musicals from various periods, as well as an extensive Baroque repertoire, including with his own ensemble Cappella Confluentes. He is committed to the rediscovery and revival of Baroque works, including the reconstruction of an Easter Vesper from the Warsaw Court in 1615 and the adaptation of Telemann’s Der geduldige Sokrates at the Gärtnerplatz Theatre and Purcell’s The Fairy Queen at the Regensburg Theatre. He also works closely with ensembles such as the Staatskapelle Halle, Vokal Nord in Tromsø and the Batzdorf Hofkapelle. He appears regularly in concert and on CD recordings with radio choirs and choruses throughout Europe, including the Bavarian Radio Chorus, the MDR Radio Chorus, the Danish National Radio Choir in Copenhagen and the Chœur de Radio France in Paris.
