The beginnings of orchestral music in Lytomyšl date back to 1876, when the ‘Bartered Bride’ of Smetana, who was born in the town, was performed with the composer’s help. The permanent orchestra was founded in Litomyšl in 1912. The LSO has been using its current name since 1958. since 2010 it has been led by the composer and conductor David Lukáš.
