The Festival operates as a not-for-profit NGO (občianske združenie) and directors and committee members draw no remuneration from the Festival.

Coordinating committee

Nadia Büchlerová Conway, MBE (Chair of the Committee). Nadia was brought up in the Tatras and has British and Slovak nationality. She has a distinguished record of public service in the UK, both in the National Health Service, in education, and in local government (she is a former Mayor of Enfield, London). She and her husband David have restored a 15th-century house in Levoča’s centre. Nadia was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours List, 2009.

Jana Matvejová. Jana is a Levočan businesswoman with a keen and active interest in the architecture of the Spiš region and its restoration – and in its mountain sports!

Miroslav Pollák. Miro began his career as a Professor of Mathematics and is a former Member of the Slovak Parliament. He is a deputy director of ‘ETP Slovakia – Centre for Sustainable Development’ and manager of the NGO ‘Krasny Spiš’ (‘Beautiful Spiš’) , dedicated to cultural development in the region.

 

Joint Artistic Directors

Dr. David Conway. David is a British international consultant who has worked extensively in Central and Eastern Europe on behalf of the European Commission; he is also a music historian with works published by Cambridge University Press and elsewhere. He is a graduate of King’s College, Cambridge and University College London, and is Chairman of the British opera company, HGO.

Pavel Uher. Pavel is a distinguished Slovak theatre director and writer. Having studied dramaturgy at the Musical Academy of Prague, his work has led him to theatre, musical theatre and television production in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and Switzerland. His theatre work has included productions of ballet, children’s theatre, and productions for the Slovak National Opera.
