Ivan Palovič

Ivan Palovič studied violin at the Conservatory in Bratislava in the class of professor Jozef Kopelman, Bohdan Warchal jn. and František Török. Later he carried on with his viola studies at the Academy of Music and Drama in Bratislava (with Jozef Hošek), at the Hochschule Musik Theater Zürich with Nicolas Corti and at the University Mozarteum in Salzburg (with Peter Langgartner). He has also participated in a number of masterclasses studying with Mincho Minchev, Siegfried Führlinger, Nobuko Imai and Ulrich Eichenauer.  In 2004 he won the 1st Prize at the International Viola Competition „Beethoven’s Hradec“ (Czech Republic) as well as  the „Prize for the Best Performance of  a  Beethoven Composition“ and the „Prize for the Best Performance of a Czech Contemporary Composition“. In the same year he obtained  the „Bohuslav Martinů Prize“ at the International Prague-Vienna-Budapest Summer Academy (Austria). In 2006 he was a nominee for the  „Ľudovít Rajter Prize“ for young outstanding artists.  As a professor of Emil Hasala, the winner of viola category and the best Slovak participant, he received the „Prize for the Best Teacher“ at the International  Competition „Talents for Europe 2013″. He has been  a member of various national and international orchestras e. g. Unici Ensemble, Orchestra Sinfonica „A. Scontrino”, Chamber Soloists Bratislava, Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra. He has given concerts at a number of music festivals such as Orfeus Festival,  Festival of Young Concert Artists, 1st Summer Festival of Young Artists Piešťany, Evenings of New Music, Tatra Bank Young Artists Festival,  Children for Hummel Festival, Hatrík for Children – Children for Hatrík Festival, Music Springs in Levoča, Trenčín, Poprad and Lipany, Music Autumns in Nitra, Prešov, Rimavská Sobota, Dolný Kubín and  Topoľčany, Tadeáš Salva Days, 24 Hours Piano, Gallery of Music Nitra, Radio Devín Evenings, Orava Classic, Confrontations, SchubertFEST, New Slovak Music, Festival of Nice Music, Convergences, Felix  Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Music Days, Anglo-Czechoslovak Trust, ARMONIE DELLA SERA as well as within the concert cycles Sunday Matinée at the Gallery of Bratislava City, Music at Fulla, Music Evenings at the Dvorana Hall, Music at the Castle, Chamber concert at the New synagogue, CLASS!CAL CONCERTS and Albrechtina. The (un)known Music. He has made solo and chamber music recordings for Czech Radio, Slovak Radio, Austrian Radio & Television ORF as well as  Pavlík Records, Catholic University labels. In 2019 he released his solo CD BOWEN / REGER / MACHAJDÍK / BRAHMS. Ivan Palovič has performed as a soloist with Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra, State Philharmonic Orchestra Košice, Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina, Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra. He is an avid advocate of Slovak music. His 2018 recital at the New Slovak Music festival focused on the work of distinguished Slovak composer Juraj Hatrík. Currently he teaches viola at the Academy of Music and Drama (Department of String, Wind and Brass Instruments) and at the Conservatory in Bratislava.
